Meet Kathy Keeley
I grew up in the northern Denver metropolitan area, in Westminster and Broomfield, and graduated from Broomfield High School in 1972. I went on to the University of Colorado, where I worked my way through college with a variety of jobs and earned my degree in Elementary Education in 1978.
After my three children started school, I worked in the horse racing industry. What began as a job eventually became a 25-year career in management with significant responsibility for day-to-day operations and employees. My work included participating in union negotiations, developing policy and procedure manuals, and working with the State of Colorado on revisions to regulations and laws governing pari-mutuel wagering.
Those years taught me a great deal about leadership, problem-solving, regulation, accountability, and the importance of listening to people with very different perspectives. They also taught me that good policies have to work in the real world, not just look good on paper. Most recently I've had the opportunity to bring those skills to bear as a member of the Palmer Lake Planning Commission.
I am the mother of three college-educated adult children and grandmother of eight. Three years ago, when I moved to Palmer Lake to be closer to my daughter and grandsons, I found much more than a new address. I found home.
My heart and soul have always been grounded in the Colorado mountains. There is a sense of calm, peace, and belonging here that is increasingly difficult to find. Palmer Lake is a special place. Its natural beauty, mountain setting, history, character, and sense of community deserve thoughtful stewardship. I believe we have a responsibility not only to appreciate what we have inherited, but to protect it for the generations who will come after us.
That is why I am running for the Palmer Lake Board of Trustees. I'd appreciate your vote for Trustee, where I can further my service to our beautiful Town and its citizens.
